Philanthropy

A legacy of empowerment.

From a daughter's dream to a family's mission — this work is about helping people move from being beneficiaries to becoming contributors.

From a Daughter's Dream to a Family's Mission

Some missions begin with a business idea. Some begin with a social problem. And some begin with a dream that refuses to disappear.

For Abhijit Kapuria, this journey began with his daughter, Sumedha Kapuria. She had a strong desire to help children from financially disadvantaged backgrounds receive education and opportunities that could change their lives. She passed away in Hyderabad in September 2020 at the age of 12.

Her absence changed the family forever. But they did not want her dream to disappear with her. Today, the family is gradually carrying that dream forward through education support, food assistance, digital empowerment, employability initiatives and opportunities for self-reliance.

This is not currently a registered NGO, trust or foundation. It is a personal philanthropic initiative led by Abhijit, supported by his family and a small circle of people who believe in the mission. The work is intentionally evolving one step at a time.

The Belief Behind the Mission

Do not just help someone survive. Help them become capable of living independently.

For Abhijit, philanthropy is not limited to giving money. Giving can solve an immediate problem. Education can change a person's direction. Skills can create earning capacity. Opportunity can create independence. And an empowered person can eventually create opportunities for others.

The Journey

Support → Educate → Empower → Enable → Create Opportunity → Give Back

The ultimate objective is to help people move from being beneficiaries to becoming contributors.

These are not merely numbers. Every number represents a person. Every person represents a family. And every family represents a possibility.

Bharat Digital Champ

From identity to income.

Bharat Digital Champ is a digital-skills and empowerment initiative associated with The Yellow Pillow. The program focuses on practical digital skills, digital marketing, digital entrepreneurship and the ability to create earning opportunities.

Based on participant follow-up, more than 60% of participants who were unemployed before joining the initiative subsequently became capable of generating income for themselves. Some have even progressed toward creating employment opportunities for others.

Pehchan Se Paise Tak — From identity to income.

The objective is to move people from unemployment to skill, income, economic independence and eventually employment creation.

Why Digital Empowerment?

Many young people have academic qualifications but do not possess practical skills that allow them to earn. This gap between education and employability became one of the reasons for creating Bharat Digital Champ.

The Family Behind the Mission

A personal beginning, a collective possibility.

Mother of Sumedha Kapuria

Sukanya Kapuria

Lawyer

The Long-Term Vision

A self-sustaining educational and community ecosystem.

Abhijit does not currently have a finished blueprint for the institution he ultimately wants to create. He believes a meaningful institution should evolve through experience rather than being designed entirely on paper. But he knows the direction.

He envisions an ecosystem in or around Hyderabad that could bring together a school, residential education, farm, temple, medical centre, skill development, village empowerment, agriculture tourism and family community space.

School
Residential Education
Farm
Temple
Medical Centre
Skill Development
Village Empowerment
Agriculture Tourism
Family & Community Space

The future institution is intended to serve two groups: children who need support, and families seeking exceptional education. Children receiving support should not feel like charity cases — they should be students, learning alongside children from different economic backgrounds, experiencing the same campus, education, facilities, culture and opportunities.

Shastra & Shastra

शास्त्र और शस्त्र

Knowledge and capability together.

A person should not be educated only to pass examinations. A person should be prepared for life. That means developing intellect, physical strength, character, skills, culture and economic independence.

The exact educational framework will evolve with time. The principle, however, is clear: Education should create capable human beings, not merely degree holders.

Do not just give someone a living.

Give them a reason to live, the ability to earn, and the capability to create opportunities for others.
